I am living for this transparency and generosity! It's so thoughtful of you to share this with others trying to figure it out. I'm taking notes. Also, this package the story it describes looks fabulous--huge congrats on getting and agent, and I'm excited to see it in print!
Thank you so much. That's incredibly kind of you to say! I’m really glad it’s been helpful, and I truly appreciate your support. Fingers crossed for what’s to come!
I love all of this and I’m not surprised at all that your submission led to an offer! The first paragraph of the synopsis alone is beautiful. Also that’s the first time I’ve seen Aotearoa featured in a query and as a Kiwi girl I’m so excited for you!!!
Ahh thank you so much!! Hello fellow Kiwi! I’m so chuffed you enjoyed the synopsis too. This whole journey’s been a bit surreal, but I’m grateful for every step.
Thanks so much for sharing this! If you’d like me to add it to my (free, public) compendium of successful query letters, please let me know—I think we have a shared goal of transparency. https://andibartz.substack.com/p/how-to-pitch-your-book
This is a great query letter. I’d be curious to hear what your agent said she liked about it. What made her take the plunge.
I’ve found that a lot of querying is arbitrary. Yes there are “rules”. There are better and worse queries. But every time I look at a successful query, they are miles apart from each other.
There is so much subjectivity in this process. Write the best query you can, but also know that 50% or more is hitting the right agent at the right time with the right pitch. All that to say, control what you can control but don’t freak out when excellent pitches go unanswered.
Thank you so much. I'm just starting to learn about this process and I'm so grateful for your openness.
This is just utterly fabulous! Thank you for sharing
Thanks for sharing.
This is so useful, thank you!
This is absolutely amazing! Thank you!
Sounds like a fantastic book! Thank you for sharing the packet.
Thank you so much for this!!! So generous and helpful🫰you’re a real one
Thank you for this transparency! It’s helpful. Also, your novel sounds amazing 🤩

You have so much voice; even just in your posts and letters. I literally heard this all in your voice as I read it
I love you so much ;-;
